Special Mother's Day Edition of

Surprise Surprise

This is a show in which members of the audience have surprises of all sorts sprung upon them.  It is introduced by Cilla Black.

This was, unfortunately, Neil's only appearance on UK television during his 1999 tour of this country.

Five minutes into the show and Cilla announced -

And now we have a bit of an interruption coming up but, as far as I am concerned, this fella can interrupt me ANY time. He's got a special message for a special mum in our audience.

Ladies and gentlemen please welcome the one and only ........

Neil Diamond!

- Hi Cilla. I'm sorry I can't be there right now but I am about to go on stage here at Wembley but I do know you have a special fan in the audience - a Bernadette Abbott. Can you find her for me?

Cilla then called around the audience and a stunned Bernadette stood up.

Cilla - I have her for you Neil.

Hi Bernadette! I know you want come see the show and as a matter of fact Cilla's got two tickets for you right now.

Cilla - I have got the tickets and I wish I was going to be there with you Neil as well 'cause I love you to death but I've got to do a show like Surprise Surprise

And I think Cilla has got a copy of my new Movie Album for you. Thank you Cilla for that fast car you've got waiting outside. Let's just put Bernadette in it and bring her right over here.

Bernadette come back stage and give me a big hug and a kiss. The audience is waiting but I'll wait here for you. OK. Thank you Cilla, thank you everybody. See you soon Bernadette.

Bernadette, in her stunned state, informed Cilla that she had waited thirty years for this. She was then sent off with her tickets in her hand to the show.

This segment of the show then finished with Cilla showing a clip of Neil singing As Time Goes By from The Movie Album.
