HELLO AGAIN Written by Neil Diamond and Alan Lindgren
Hello again, hello Just called to say 'hello' I couldn't sleep at all tonight And I know it's late But I couldn't wait Hello, my friend, hello Just called to let you know I think about you every night When I'm here alone And you're there at home Hello Maybe it's been crazy And maybe I'm to blame But I put my heart above my head We've been through it all And you loved me just the same And when you're not there I just need to hear Hello, my friend, hello It's good to need you so It's good to love you like I do And to feel this way When I hear you say Hello Hello, my friend, hello Just called to let you know I think about you every night And I know it's late But I couldn't wait Hello |

Terry - It is like welcoming back an old friend because this is the third time you have been on the show and we're delighted to see you. Neil - My pleasure. Terry - With all modesty how do you explain your ability to hold on to the affections, enthusiasm and love of so many millions of people for such a long time? Neil - I can't explain it. I know we have the people in the audience tied down, but otherwise I have no explanation. |
Terry - We gagged most of them. Neil - No, don't do that! Terry - What is the secret then? Is it the live performances? It must be the records as well but in your live performances what do you give that other people don't? (Shouts of approval from the audience!!) Neil - Everything, we try to give everything. I know people have come out and gone through trouble to come to the show. It is a one time opportunity for me to meet this particular group of people and we do everything we can do. |

Terry - And you have never lost your enthusiasm for live performance? Neil - No, I never have. It's still a little scary and still a lot wonderful. Terry - And they still want to hear those songs, don't they? (Cries of Yeah.. from the audience) Neil - Thank goodness. |
Terry - 37 Tracks - The question is that you have written so many, how did you pick the 37? Neil - Well these were the biggest hits I've had over the last 25 years and it's a nice collection for me to sit back and listen to. (Audience - applause) Neil - Thank you. Terry - Do you get the feeling we are leaning against an open door with this audience? Neil - Yes, yes, they're wonderful. |

Terry - Now you are about to begin a sixteen day tour. Where are you starting? Neil - We are going to start in Sheffield and then go to Birmingham and then back to London for eight days. Terry - You are going to do eight days in Wembley. Well there ain't many people can fill it for eight days! Neil - Well it will be my pleasure. |
Terry - And the Greatest Hits album, I have to say, which was only released on Monday has gone Gold already. Neil - That's right. Terry - And as a matter of fact (then he goes off to bring in the gold album presentation case.) That's for you. Neil - Whoa! That's great! Thank you Terry. Thank you so much.
